Stress management tips for busy professionals!

When was the last time you stressed out and thought you could use some help?

We all stress out at one point or another in life. This could be physical or emotional. It may be due to work, argument with a friend or family member or any other reason. To manage your stress first you must identify what causes your stress. It is crucial to find stress trigger points to get some help to manage your stress.

As per the health professionals many health problems are caused or exacerbated by stress, including:

  • Pain of any kind
  • Heart disease
  • Digestive problems
  • Sleep problems
  • Depression
  • Obesity
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Skin conditions, such as eczema

In this post we are giving some tips you can use to manage your stress. These are used by many professionals and widely discussed on web. Please note this is not a self help guide or alternative to what your Doctor has recommended for you. You must consult your family doctor to get some help if you feel that you are stressed.

Stress management tips to consider,

  1. Eat Wisely: Maintain a schedule for daily meals with well balanced diet.
  2. Get some exercise regularly: Do some aerobic exercises or breathing exercises.
  3. Take time to rest, relax and recreate: Have a good sleep daily, spend a few minutes each day alone to break routine and set aside time each week for recreation.
  4. Have faith (meditate, pray, worship) & spend time with your family.
  5. Practice more patience. Like Benjamin Franklin quoted “He that can have Patience, can have what he will”.
  6. Prioritize and organize your daily tasks:
    • Plan ahead. This helps you to see the light at the end of the tunnel before you start a busy day.
    • Make “to do” lists- in order of importance and urgency.
    • Do most important- delegate some if necessary.
    • Agree yourself that you cannot do everything in one day.
  7. Think positively: Maintain a positive attitude- give you more control.
  8. Communicate your feelings
    • Talk over your concerns and feeling with a trusted friend, family member, or a professional.
    • Sharing your feelings relieves stress and gives you insights.
    • Learn to listen and consider suggestions with an open mind.
  9. Adapt to change while decisions are made: Don’t resist change if it is needed. Make your choice and move on.
  10. Get support: If your problems are too much to discuss with a friend or family member OR you feel they would be too much of a burden- get professional assistance!
